Introduction: Hyperglycemia maintained over time is a trigger in the onset of diabetic foot, due to a previous traumatic event, where the clinical alteration is based on neuropathogenic etiopathogenesis with or without the coexistence of ischemia.
Objective: To describe the results of treatment with Heberprot-P® in patients with diabetic foot.
Methods: A cross-sectional, descriptive, and prospective study was carried out on patients with diabetic foot, belonging to the Guayas polyclinic, Cabaiguán municipality, during the period from January 2012 to January 2019. The study universe was integrated by a total of 67 patients with diabetic foot diagnosis, to whom the epidermal growth factor was applied. The information was processed through the statistical package SPSS version 21.
Results: Patients were predominantly 71 to 80 years old (31 %) and female (62 %). 30.5 % of diabetics presented with lesions in the plantar region; and with grade II (74.6 %), according to the Wagner scale.
Conclusions: With the application of Heberprot-P®, total healing was presented at the treatment response (100 %), so the integrity of the limb was maintained.
