Eagle Syndrome: Surgical Experience in Villa Clara

Introdution: Eagle síndrome is a rare clinical entity characterized by elongation of the styloid process and calcification of the sthylohyoid ligament.
Objetive: To describe the diagnostic and surgical experience in patients with Eagle síndrome treated at the Cardiocenter Ernesto Che Guevara of Villa Clara between 2019 and 2023.
Methods: Observational and cross-sectional study of 11 patients with elongated styloid processes and oropharyngeal or vascular symptoms. Clinical, imaging and surgical criteria were applied for diagnosis and treatment.
Results: 63,6% of the patientes were men, with an average age of 39 years. The most frequent symptom was the sensation of a foreign body (100%). 72,7% underwent surgical treatment through resection of the styloid processes, with favorable outcomes.
Conclusions: Eagle síndrome should be casidered in the differential diagnosis of atypical neurological events in Young adults. CTangiography is key for its identification and surgical treatment offers good results in selected cases.
