Presentation of 2 cases of head and neck vascular malformation in young patients
Keywords:
vascular malformations, arterio-venous fistulaAbstract
Introduction: Vascular malformations of the head and neck are a group of very infrequent and heterogeneous conditions in the adult patient. Peripheral arteriovenous malformations and fistulas are of great relevance, since they can considerably affect health and compromise the patient's life. Doppler-ultrasound is an important tool for the diagnosis, treatment and follow-up of vascular malformations.
Objective: To identify certain clinical-radiological characteristics in two cases of head and neck vascular malformation.
Presentation of the cases: The first case is a 19-year-old male patient with a history of color change in the right ear since he was little- that is to say, somewhat redder in relation to the left- but now he has an increase in volume of the latter and retroauricular. The second one is a 25-year-old male patient with a history of health who, from the age of 6, noticed a slight color change in the left temporal bone, which began to grow at puberty. Both cases were treated at the Imaging Service of the Institute of Angiology and Vascular Surgery, B-mode ultrasound, color and spectral Doppler, as well as Angiotac, were performed, allowing us to study morphological and hemodynamic images. Conclusions: Imaging studies are of great importance for the accurate diagnosis of the type of vascular malformation, its prognosis and adequate treatment.
